WordPress – Embed YouTube Video

Step-by-Step Guide: Embedding a YouTube Video into WordPress

Assuming that the YouTube video that you want to embed into your website already exists on YouTube, follow these steps:

  1. From your browser, navigate to the page in YouTube where the video resides.
  2. Click the “Share” button under the video.
  3. Once clicked, the “Embed” button will now be visible.  Click it!
  4. After clicking the “Embed” button you will see a box that contains “iframe” code. Copy this entire code into your computer memory.
  5. Now log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  6. Go to the page where you want to embed the video by clicking on “Pages” on the left hand side of your WordPress dashboard.
  7. Click on the HTML tab to reveal the HTML code for the page.
  8. Go to where you want the video to appear.  If you’re not sure, you can place it at the top of the page for now, by placing the cursing to the left of the top line of code and clicking.
  9. Paste the “iFrame” code that is still in your computer’s memory into your preferred location in the code.
  10. Click the Update button.
  11. From your browser, navigate to the page on your website where you placed the video to ensure that it’s working correctly.  If you don’t see it, try refreshing the page.

Congratulations!  You just embedded a youTube video into your WordPress website!
