Install WordPress in Bluehost
1. Log in to your Bluehost account. On the cPanel page (note tabs at top), scroll down to the Software/Services heading and click on WordPress icon.

2. Click on the green button that says “Install”. Note – If an ad pops up for “SiteLock” Click “no thanks, I’m not interested.” You can come back and add it later if you like.

3. On the next page titled “Installation Preferences”, click on “Click here to display” to view the advanced options.

4. Set the Preferences (as indicated in the screen print below)
- Leave the box next to your domain name blank in order to install WordPress in the root directory. This is the default installation. *IMPORTANT – If you already have a web site for that domain name and it is already located in that root directory, this setting will overwrite your existing web site! If this is the case and you don’t want your existing website to be overwritten, type a name in the box provided and WordPress will be installed in a sub-directory, without overwriting your previous website. Alternatively, you can back up your existing site first, and then re-install it in a sub-directory later.
- Change “My Blog” to the name you want for your website or the name of your company. (It can be changed later.)
- Choose a username and password. Remember to write them down!!
- Check mark the box that says, “Automatically create a new database.”
- Legal Information – Click the check box. You may want to read the license agreement beforehand. Or, you can copy and paste the license agreement text into a new document and read it later if your prefer.
- Then click the “Complete” button.

You will see an “Installing WordPress” page that will say “Installation Complete!” when it’s done.

Follow up:
Then you can click on the “Back to cPanel” tab of the menubar to go to the cPanel. Write down the “user name” and “home directory” from the “Stats” box on the left hand side.
These will help you if you want to upload files later via ftp transfer instead of through WordPress. These, combined with your password and domain name, will be your ftp settings.

After you have completed the steps above, navigate to your new website in your browser and you will see something like this. Congratulations!
