Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Headphones

Review: the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Noise Canceling Headphones

The Bose Quiet Comfort 15 noise canceling headphones bring welcome sanity to an otherwise over-noisy world.

From the moment you open the case, you know you’re in for a treat. One thing you notice right away is the cord. It’s replaceable! It plugs into the headphones. How many pairs of headphones have you thrown away because the cord broke and you could only get sound in one ear?

When you put on the 15′s, you instantly notice how comfortable they are. They are lightweight, even with the required AAA battery. I love the soft cushioned ear-pads. They are the around-the-ear style, as opposed to on-the-ear.  I think Spock would even find them comfortable!

When you turn them on, there is an ever so slight pressure on the inner ear. It’s almost not worth mentioning. Most people would never notice, unless you pointed it out.

Even without music, the ticking clock in my office and other minor sounds all disappear. Loud sounds can still be heard, but they are greatly reduced, almost inaudible. Music sounds crystal clear at both low and high volumes. I’m able to pick out new sounds from my old favorites; songs I’ve been listening to for years.

I also have to comment on the very effective store display that drew me to them. They have a speaker that emits a sound simulating the drone of a jet engine. Just below, there’s a variety of Bose headphones that you can try on. What a huge difference between the noise canceling type headphones and those that are not.  It’s fun to try them out and make side-by-side comparisons. And it really helps you to decide for yourself, if they’re worth spending the extra money.

I can see how they would be an excellent choice for the frequent traveler.

In summary, at $300, they are expensive. But if you’re a serious audiophile, a frequent traveler, or work in a high stress environment, they might be just the ticket to help calm your nerves after a tough day.

300 isn’t that expensive if they will last for a few years!
