Get Increased Traffic to Your Website

EzineArticles.com

Ezine articles is the 55th most used site in the U.S.  It is the 125th most used site in the world. Set up an account at ezinearticles.com. This allows you to submit relevant articles on your particular niche. Each article you submit is reviewed by two live people before being added to their site.  Each article will have a back link to your website. Essentially you are leveraging the high traffic that Ezine is already receiving, and re-directing some of that traffic to your site. Once you achieve 20 to 50 articles published, you’ll start to become recognized as an expert in your field and notice an increase in traffic to your website.

Google keyword tool

  1. Navigate to Google’s homepage.
  2. Do a search for “Google keyword tool”.
  3. Click on the top entry for “Google keyword tool.”  You should arrive at a page it says “Google ad words” in the upper left-hand corner, and the words “keyword tool” are highlighted in green also in the upper left-hand corner.
  4. Underneath where it says “find keywords”, type in a word or phrase in the box provided that you think someone would use to find your business on the Internet. (For example, “Web design tools” if you are a web designer that provides tools for the public to share.)
  5. In the box provided, type in the letters that appear in the picture. This validates that you are a live person and not a robot.
  6. Click the search button

This process generates keywords that are closely related to the ones you typed in. Note the numbers under the columns what will monthly searches and local monthly searches. This represents the demand for the keywords typed in, essentially the demand for your niche. If the number is over 2500, this represents adequate demand for your keywords. Remember the words listed under the column keyword are the exact words that users have typed in so you know they are looking for answers in these specific subject areas.

Scroll down the list and note the words or phrases that have over 2500 global monthly searches. However, do not choose words or phrases that have extremely large numbers of searches, because they are most likely too general.

Now open a new tab or browser window. Again go to the Google homepage. Choose one of the keywords that had over 2500 global monthly searches and place it into the Google search box, inside quotation marks .

Note the total number of results directly under the Google search box. In my example, I typed in “Web design tools” which resulted in “about 273,000 results”. We are looking for results that are 250,000 or less. This represents the supply; the number of web pages that are supplying information based specifically on your search terms.

Continue this process until you have between 5 to 10 keywords or phrases which meet both the demand and supply criteria. The point is, these terms will be excellent to use as keywords in the meta-tags for your website, the opening paragraph for your website, in the articles you write for Ezinearticles.com and for your blog entries.

Technorati.com

Technorati is a blog directory. Here you can find listings of the top blogs for your particular niche. The idea is to identify the top blogs for your particular niche, navigate to those blogs and post insightful comments. You have an opportunity to create a back-link to your website as part of your blog commentary. Again, you are leveraging the high traffic volume from these top blogs and redirecting some of it toward your website.

Set at least hour aside each week to comment on blogs relative to your niche.

YouTube

Set up a YouTube account, if you don’t already have one.  YouTube is the second largest search engine behind Google.  You can re-direct some of that traffic towards your website by creating a video, uploading it to YouTube, adding keywords and a keyword-laden description.  Use the same keywords that you discovered in your “Google Keyword Tool” above.  Remember to add a link to your website.

Facebook

Set up a Facebook page for your business or organization.  Contact all your friends from your regular Facebook account and invite them to view and “Like” your new Facebook page.  Add new content at least weekly. You may also add your YouTube video on your new page.

Twitter

Set up a Twitter account.  Set aside time, two or three days per week, to “Tweet” on topics relative to your niche. Include in your tweets links to your website (beginning with http:// ).

WordPress Blog Settings

Change your wordpress blog settings by navigating to the  “Settings/Writing” page.  From there you can add these links to notify update services when you update your blog:

I will be adding more content to this page in the days and weeks ahead so feel free to bookmark the page and check back for updates.  There is also supplemental information listed under the “How to” section of this website.
